Today was the first day I have had a swim workout in over two months.
I slide into the pool. It is slightly cold, just how I like it. I push off the wall and stretch out in a streamline. I take my first freestyle arm stroke hoping there is no pain. There isn’t. I swim down the pool feeling my rotation and how nice it is to pull my body through the water. On the flip, I can feel how my legs snap over. All the ab work I have done in the last two months is showing. I don’t even have to think about having a good streamline, it just happens. I push off and kick. It feels good, I like it. I cannot wait until my shoulders are well enough to let me go fast. But I am happy with this, for now. It is wonderful to feel the weightlessness, to feel the water move along my body. To feel the familiar motions of kicking and pulling and rolling. I have missed this.
